INCLUSIVE ISLANDS: At the request of the Maltese Presidency of the EU, the EESC was invited to express its opinion with the aim of identifying permanent solutions for islands to address their structural difficulties. In its work, the EESC emphasises that a greater effort must be undertaken by the EU to recognise the uniqueness of the challenges facing islands. The EESC opinion adopted at the 524th plenary session, held on 29 and 30 March 2017 is available in all official EU languages.
