//8 October : Workshop “Europe Closer to citizens of Islands Mountains and Sparsely Populated Areas”

For the 2019 edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities, the European Commission (DG Regional and Urban Policy) is organising on 8th October a workshop “Europe closer to citizens of islands, mountains and sparsely populated areas” which will focus on the future Cohesion Policy in specific territories of the EU such as islands, mountains and sparsely populated areas.

The CPMR Islands Commission is partnering with Euromontana and the Northern Sparsely Populated Areas network to discuss on the opportunities and challenges of integrated territorial strategies and the territorial tools of Cohesion Policy, namely Integrated Territorial Investments (ITI) and Community-led Local Development (CLLD), to unleash the development potential of EU specific territories. All island stakeholders are most welcome to join and participate in the discussions!

The workshop will also address the new Policy Objective 5 “Europe closer to citizens” of Cohesion Policy and present several case studies and best practices applied on islands, mountains and northern sparsely populated areas.

There is a limited number of places so do not forget to register by 27 September!
